Low Light Handgun Course

The DES Training Low Light course was development to expose the concealed carry holder to the safe and proper use of the flashlight. Since over 60% of all defensive shootings occur in low, failing or altered light, the effect use of both a handgun and white light is a skill set needed by all shooters. The class will help develop student confidence and ability with handguns in day light and low light shooting situations along with proper threat/target identification.

Key points covered within the course are:

  • Principles of low-light tactics
  • Correct use of lighting tools
  • Equipment selection
  • Decision-making / Shoot vs. No Shoot
  • One hand shooting (strong side and support side) use of Night Sights
  • Using hand-held flashlights with firearms
  • Effective Shot Placement

This 6 hours course combines classroom and live fire range time with up to 300 plus rounds fired. DES Training provides all targets and needed documentation along with the course materials. You will need to bring: A handgun (caliber .380acp or .38 special and above), 400 rounds of ammunition, along with a holster molded to fit you handgun and belt. Additional Equipment: Tactical Flashlight—2 cell at least—SureFire/ O Light/ Streamlight etc. (2) Extra magazines (or speed loaders), Knee pads, Conceal Carry garment along with eye and ear protection. Special Equipment: 10 rounds of your Personal Defense or Conceal Carry Ammunition for low light/no light course of fire.

Prerequisites : State issued Conceal Carry permit or completed the NRA Personal Protection in the Home or Personal Protection Outside the Home or Law Enforcement /US Military certification in Pistol or IDPA Sharpshooter or higher classification or and approved  Advanced class training in Handgun.  Students will be subject to approval for the course.

Low Light Handgun Course fee: $150

Class is limited to 10 shooters per class for safety and maximum student to Instructor time.
